'Stranded' by Pemita Continued...

Later on that night I couldn’t help but think of the person I had seen earlier this afternoon. It was a girl. I had seen her in the plane I was on. We were sitting in first class where all the unaccompanied minors were. Actually, we were the only ones, she was in the seat across from mine. She had russet hair with chunky streaks of blonde up to her shoulders. Her eyes were the tenderest eyes of pure emerald I had ever seen. Her build was very slim and she was quite short. I even remembered her name, Kassia which meant pure. She always sent shivers up my spine every time she glared at me. It was like glaring into the eyes of paradise. We got on really well and she was very welcoming. I thought I had a chance with her until one of the engines of the plane suddenly exploded. I closed my eyes at the thought of it. I felt really dim-witted for letting her go like that. Why did she run away from me? I thought we were friends. She could be anywhere by now. Lost. Just like I was. I had to find her. I promised myself I wouldn’t rest until I did.

Speaking Out at Southern Cross Campus
Last night the finalists from MS 3 and MS 17 presented their persuasive speeches to an audience of teachers, parents, family and friends. The topics varied from 'Heavy Metal Rock' to more global issues such as 'Plastic Bags'.
Judging the competition proved to be difficult as the quality of speeches had certainly been evident. Overall it can be said that the progression from Year 8 to Year 9 is promising.

Things to Consider
Good Evening,
I have posted the Spelling Words for those of you who may have accidentally left your planners at school.
I have also put up the first advertisement (there will be a different one each week) to be interpreted/analysed. Record your answers to the questions in your student planner. If you have other comments to make about the advertisement then record these also and bring your ideas to school (This is an introduction to our 2nd unit for the Term)
Thank you

'Stranded' by Pemita

SOS. His brawny hands had just finished lifting the stones into place. The thought of being the only survivor of the plane crash made him fervent to stay alive. He stretched his limbs and you could see his exposed physique. His features were angelic. He had a face like some ancient Greek sculpture. His eyes weren’t blue but violet and they glistened in the beam of the crescent moon. Although it had not rained the ground was weet. He gasped, and as he did he could see his own breath. It was cold. The wind was like a rope strapping tightly against his body. But it did not howl instead there was an ominous silence. He was stranded on this island, no food, no water. Alone. That was the worst part of all.
